About the Author: Sila Tripati trained in archaeology at the Institute of Archaeology (ASI), New Delhi, and since 1988 has been a maritime archaeologist at the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), a constituent laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), perusing research on maritime trade, submerged ports, shipwrecks and stone anchors. He has participated in onshore and offshore explorations in the waters on the west and the east of the Indian subcontinent.
